Escambia vs. Rummel: What You Need to Know

Exactly a year after their first scheduled matchup, which Hurricane Irma cancelled, Escambia and Rummel (Lou.) will meet in an intriguing out-of-state showdown. Both teams played very well early last season and are looking for another fast start in 2018.

The game will be broadcast live on Yurview Louisiana for customers of Cox Communications and will also stream live on Yurview.com.

Rich Tradition

Escambia and Rummel each have rich traditions in their respective states, but the two programs have something to prove in 2018. Escambia went 8-3 a year ago but fell in the Florida 6A Regional Semifinals to Crestview, 44-34.

After a 5-1 start in 2017 with the only defeat coming in double overtime, Rummel finished 6-5 and lost, 14-7, in the Louisiana Division I quarterfinals. Neither team is customarily out of the postseason that early, so both wish to make 2018 about redemption.

QB Chandler Fields – Rummel

Standing at 5-foot-11 and 182 pounds, Fields is a Top 50 recruit in Louisiana and one of the best 40 pro-styled quarterbacks in the 2019 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He committed to Louisiana-Lafayette in May.

WR Koy Moore – Rummel

Rummel lost 3-star wide receiver Jamar Chase to LSU this past summer, but Moore appears more than ready to fill the void. Still only a junior, 247Sports considers Moore a Top 200 recruit for the 2020 class. 247Sports also ranks him the seventh-best Louisiana prospect and 29th-best wide receiver in that class.

Moore committed to USC in August, but he also reportedly received offers from Georgia, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Oregon, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Kentucky.
