Lincoln East vs. Omaha Westside

After disappointing endings to the regular season last week, both Omaha Westside and Lincoln East will be itching to get back on the field for this Class A playoff battle.

The game will be broadcast live on Yurview for customers of Cox Communications and will also stream live on

Starting a New Streak

Had these teams met last week, it would have been a contest between two of the hottest teams in Nebraska high school football. Instead, Omaha Westside saw its perfect record and eight-game winning streak snapped in a one-point defeat to Millard South, and Lincoln East lost on the road to Grand Island.

Even still, this sets up a great postseason matchup. At 8-1, Omaha Westside enters the playoffs as the No. 4 seed in Class A. Behind a 5-4 finish, Lincoln East is the No. 13 seed in the 16-team tournament.

Until last week, Omaha Westside had scored at least 29 points in every game. Lincoln East has exploded a few times offensively this season, but in seven of their nine games, they were under the 30-point mark. Keeping the Omaha Westside offense under 30 points is the key to the game for Lincoln East.

The winner of this contest will face the victor of No. 5-seeded Millard West against No. 12 Creighton Prep in the Class A quarterfinals next week.

Players to Watch

ATH Zach Clausen – Lincoln East

Over the summer, the senior transferred from Lincoln Lutheran, where he recorded more than 3,000 passing yards in three seasons. But with Lincoln East, Clausen hasn’t played just behind center, as he has also lined up at running back and wide receiver too.

Clausen has 210 passing yards, 105 rushing yards and three catches for 32 receiving yards this season. He has recorded two total touchdowns.

RB Avante Dickerson – Omaha Westside

The sophomore plays mostly running back, but Omaha Westside utilizes his speed in every way possible, also lining him up at defensive back and on kickoff returns.

He has scored touchdowns in each of the last six victories for Omaha Westside. That includes an interception returned for a touchdown against Creighton Prep on Sept. 20.
