Friday night January 12th, undefeated Kingfisher takes on Blanchard in a matchup that will showcase some of the top young talent in the state in the Ford Game of the Week.
Kingfisher enters the Tuesday undefeated at 9-0. They have not lost a game since February of last year to Elgin and are the defending 4A State Champions.
They are led by the #15 prospect in Oklahoma, Jett Sternberger and Forward Trent Green. Both players were starters during the Championship season of 2017.
But it is the freshmen combination of Matthew Stone and Bijan Cortes that have Kingfisher as the overwhelming favorite in Class 4A. Kingfisher has a “Super Team” look in Class 4A. Kingfisher will be tough to beat.
A Tough Road Ahead
The Blanchard Lions have endured one of the toughest schedules in Class 4A with loses to #2 in Class A Ft. Cobb, #10 in Class 5A Lawton Mac, #10 in Class 4A Metro Christian and a blowout by #1 Kingfisher in week one action.
The Lions are lead by Junior, Jack Kiker and Senior, L.J. McDonough. McDonough is coming off a 33 point performance against Capital Hill in the Anadarko Tournament.
Even though the first match up between the Lions and the Yellowjackets was a blowout, this game should be a good one.
