March is always an exciting time here on the Ninth Island of Las Vegas! The weather begins to warm up, with average daily highs reaching into the low 70’s and nightly lows dipping into the 40’s. With this warmer weather, the Las Vegas pool season officially kicks off, with the majority of seasonal pools opening on March 1st. While it may not always feel like pool weather in Vegas, there are some determined folks that head to the pools; however, when the weather is far from desirable pool temperatures, some of the hotels may close their pools for a day or two. It’s always best to check in with your hotel property regarding the pool hours and any closures.
In addition to the temperatures heating up, the action in Vegas heats up as well with spring break, St. Patrick’s Day and March Madness. All of the above are the larger events happening in Las Vegas in March; however, there are all of the regular shows and attractions that are certainly worth adding to your list. We recently visited a few fun attractions on the Las Vegas Strip. If you enjoy unique bars, live music, close up magic and immersive experiences, you will want to add 1923 Live, minus5 ICEBAR and Dreambox360 to your list.
1923 Live is a popular speakeasy located inside of the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian. This is the newer sister-bar of 1923 Prohibition Bar at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place between Mandalay Bay and Luxor. Both locations are known for their speakeasy atmosphere and Prohibition Era cocktails, along with live music and magic! We had the opportunity to catch some magic and music at 1923 Live, including the close magic show, Legerdemain, which is within an intimate venue inside of the speakeasy. The Docksiders, an extremely entertaining Yacht Rock band, was also performing and they had the crowd up dancing and singing along to yacht rock classics! Afterwards, Nola Nights kicks off, where we enjoyed live music accompanied by burlesque. This is definitely a fun spot for date night or groups looking for a fun, uniquely Vegas experience.
Located next door to both 1923 locations, as well as in the LINQ Promenade, you’ll find three different locations of minus5 ICEBAR. These all provide guests with a very cool experience…pun intended! Each location has uniquely designed ice sculptures, along with a full bar where guests can sip on cocktails in glasses made of ice or even enjoy a shot from the shot-ski!
Last, but certainly not least, is Dreambox 360, which is located right next to the LINQ Prominade minus5 ICEBAR. Dreambox360 provides an intimate immersive experience and offers a variety of shows. Of course it’s Vegas, so guests can enjoy craft cocktails during the experience. Currently, there is a great deal called the Ultimate Polar Passport, which provides entry/reentry into all three minus5 locations, entry into Dreambox360 and entry to the largest observation wheel in the United States, the High Roller, in addition to cocktails and discounts on cocktails. Visit www.minus5experience.com for more information and use code NIC15 to save an additional 15%.
Of course, this is Vegas and new events are announced daily and unfortunately events get cancelled. Be sure to stay up to date on the latest events by watching our weekly podcast , “What’s New In Vegas: The Ninth Island Connection Podcast,” Mondays on our YouTube Channel.
