Watch a replay of the Ford Game of the Week: OSSAA 5A Girls Basketball Quarterfinals – Piedmont vs. East Central and Pryor vs. Ardmore. Games played March, 7th 2019.
Piedmont 51, East Central 46:
Piedmont got obliterated on the glass. The Lady Cats got enough offense from Regan and Delanie Crawford that it didn’t matter.
East Central took a brief lead at 44-43 with just 2:58 left. But the Lady Cats got a charge call on defense, Delaine Crawford sank a 3, then Regan Crawford hit both free throws on a 1-and-1 opportunity.
The 7-0 run near the end of the game was enough to get Piedmont the 5-point win.
The Crawford sisters combined for 34 points.
“She’s been playing good all year and we didn’t want to stop playing together,” said Regan, a senior, and Delaine’s older sister.
East Central corralled a whopping 26 offensive rebounds, sometimes getting three and four shots on the same possession, but shot just 27 percent from the field.
Pryor 50, Ardmore 43:
Pryor endured a massive Ardmore run in the second quarter and held off a frantic rally late to advance to the Oklahoma 5A semifinals.
Pryor hammered the ball inside to M-Kayla Hillman in the second half, mixing that with some timely 3s and a strong offensive performance from Rylie Looney.
Hillman finished with 15 points
“We have unfinished business that we need to take care of,” Hillman said. “We’re not coming away from this (with a loss) like we did last year.”
Ardmore took 16 more shots than Pryor, forcing more turnovers and winning the rebounding battle. But the team made just 34.7 percent of its shots.
