Ford Game of the Week: Edmond Santa Fe vs. Union Football (Replay)

The Edmond Santa Fe Wolves were in Tulsa Friday night to play the Union Redskins. This 6A Division I quarterfinal was played at Union-Tuttle Stadium.

Union moved the ball early but a turnover deep in Santa Fe territory ended the drive. Union got on the board with an 18-yard field goal from Noah Rauschenberg with 5 minutes left in the first quarter to take a 3-0 lead. The Redskins then got a 4-yard touchdown from Eastern Michigan commit Darius Boone to lead 10-0 after one quarter.

In the second quarter, Union extended that lead with a drive that ended with the play of the game. Quarterback Peyton Thompson’s pass was tipped and nearly intercepted by Edmond Santa Fe but the ball leaked through and was caught by wide receiver Jaquay Shavers for a 23-yard touchdown pass. Union led 17-0 at the half.

In the second half, Darius Boone ran 47 yards to the end zone to give Union a 24-0 lead barely three minutes into the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Edmond Santa Fe got on the board with a 7-yard touchdown pass from Kanan Hansen to Talon Shetron. The Wolves could not convert the extra point. The score was 24-6. Darius Boone carried the ball 35 times for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns. That third touchdown came with 3:30 remaining in the game to make the final score Union 31, Edmond Santa Fe 6.

Union will play Jenks in the 6A Division I semifinals.

The player of the game in the 6A Division I playoff opener between Edmond Santa Fe and  Union was  Darius Boone.  He had 35 carries for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Boone is committed to Eastern Michigan.  Union defeated Edmond Santa Fe 31-6 to advance to the 6A Division I semifinals.
