It was a battle of unbeatens at The Rock in Guthrie, Oklahoma Friday night. Back to back state champion and number one ranked Carl Albert met Guthrie at Jelsma Stadium. The Carl Albert Titans showed early why they are number one. Sophomore quarterback Ben Harris found Anthony Davis for a 40 yard touchdown pass that gave the Titans the early 7-0 lead.
Then in the second quarter it was Harris and Davis again. This time it was a 20 yard pass play and Carl Albert led at the half, 14-0. In the third quarter Guthrie drove inside the Carl Albert 25 but a bad snap on a fourth down play ended Guthrie’s best scoring opportunity of the night.
The Titans then turned to their workhorse back Dadrion Taylor. He finished the night with 113 yards on 26 carries including a one yard leap in to the end zone that gave Carl Albert a 21-0 lead early in the fourth. Carl Albert’s Ben Harris was 10/25 passing for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Anthony Davis had two receptions for 60 yards and two touchdowns.
Carl Albert defeats Guthrie 21 to 0. Carl Albert is now 7-0 overall and 4-0 in district play. Guthrie is 6-1 and 3-1 in district play.
The Play of the Game came in the first quarter. Carl Albert quarterback Ben Harris threw a pass to Anthony Davis who broke a tackle and scooted down the sideline for a forty yard touchdown completion.
The players of the game are Carl Albert seniors Anthony Davis and Dadrion Taylor. Davis had two catches for 60 yards and two touchdowns. Taylor carried the ball 26 times for 113 yards and one touchdown.
