Ford Game of the Week: Booker T. Washington vs. Bixby 9-28-18

Number 1 ranked Tulsa Booker T. Washington was in Bixby, Oklahoma to take on the number 2 Bixby Spartans in a rematch of last December’s 6A II state championship which was won by BTW.  They played at Bixby’s Lee Snider Field.

The defending champion Hornets feature several top college prospects including Dax Hill who recently committed to Michigan.   But Friday night the Hornets would struggle.

Bixby scored first when Mason Williams connected with Brennan Presley on a 35 yard touchdown play to grab the early 7-0 lead.  Neither team scored again in the first half.

But in the third quarter things would change. BTW connected on a pass from wide receiver DJ Jones, an Oklahoma State commit, to freshman quarterback Gentry Williams.  That play went for 57 yards.  Two plays later Senior quarterback Tai Dobbins scored from two yards out.  The game was tied at 7.

Bixby broke the tie two minutes later on a 16 yard pass from Williams to Ethan Hall.  Bixby was back on top 14-7.  Then with 3:22 left in the third, Bixby turned a turnover into points when Mason Williams hit Cade Cavender for an 11 yard touchdown pass.  That proved to be the final margin as Bixby beats Booker T. Washington 21-7.

Bixby is now 2-0 in district, 4-1 overall.  BTW is 1-1 in district, 2-3 overall.
