Bixby defeats Stillwater 34-13 to capture fourth 6A-II championship in five years

Perennial power Bixby is going to have to make some room in their trophy case, as a fourth 6A Division II football gold ball in five years is now secured.

No. 1 seed Bixby (12-1) defeated previously undefeated No. 2 seed Stillwater (12-1) 34-13 in the 6A Division II championship game at Owasso Stadium.

The game featured two lighting delays (25 minutes before kickoff and 2 hours/11 minutes in the fourth quarter) but eventually coach Loren Montgomery and Bixby were able to celebrate another championship for their storied program.

This was Stillwater’s first trip to the state championship game in 41 years.

Cade Cavender amassed a career-best 225 yards and three touchdowns in the victory, according to Tulsa World.

The explosive Cavender struck for a 60-yard touchdown and 48-yard run.

Bixby’s Qwontrel Walker, who had a 39-yard run and two touchdowns, finished the season with over 2,000 yards on the ground, according to Tulsa World.
The game was tied at 13 through 24 minutes before Bixby went on a 21-0 run to seal the title.
