2005: NFL Quarterback Sam Bradford at Putnam City North Plays Edmond Santa Fe

SHARE

In the Oklahoma City area of Warr Acres, Edmond Santa Fe played against Putnam City North in this 5A match-up on September 16th, 2005.

The game was significant in that Sam Bradford, the Minnesota Vikings starting quarterback, was a senior for Putnam City North. He wasn’t heavily recruited out of high school but the Oklahoma Sooners thought enough of him to offer him a scholarship. The rest, as they say is history. Bradford later won the Heisman trophy in 2008 and was the first overall pick by the St. Louis Rams in the 2010 NFL Draft.

On this night, the very good Edmond Santa Fe team was missing their quarterback Ty Weeden, the younger brother of NFL Quarterback Brandon Weeden, due to an injury but had a formidable rushing back.
