Games to Watch

September 8th – Basha vs. Saguaro: September 8th will be the highly anticipated rematch of last year’s Open Division State Championship game between the Basha Bears and Saguaro Sabercats.  Basha beat perennial powerhouse Saguaro 28-21 last December to win its first-ever state title.  Both teams come into this game as the top two programs in the state according to Max Preps* Preseason National Rankings. Basha is ranked 18th and Saguaro checks in at #40 in the country.

November 3rd – Chandler vs Hamilton: November 3rd will feature the biggest rivalry in the state between the Chandler Wolves and Hamilton Huskies.  The two schools, located just 4 miles apart, play each other in the last game of the regular season every year in a game known as “The Battle For Arizona Avenue.”  The fur will fly in this heavyweight match-up between the Wolves and Huskies.  Max Preps* has Chandler ranked 49th and Hamilton 55th in their Preseason National Rankings.  Chandler won an Arizona big school record 5 straight state titles from 2016-’20, and they are looking to get their hands on the Gold Ball once again this season. Hamilton has won 7 State Championships in program history, with all of them coming in a 10-year span (2003-’12)
